labor support doula care
A doula is trained to offer non-medical care to a laboring mother and her support team. I can offer you informational support, aid in your preparation for labor, give emotional and physical support, and assist you and your partner before, during and just after birth. I also offer support services following the birth of the baby as a postpartum doula.
In a study published by The Cochrane Library, women who received continuous support during labor were less likely to receive regional anesthesia or any anesthesia, give birth with vacuum extraction or forceps, give birth by cesarean, have a baby with a low 5-minute Apgar score, report dissatisfaction of their experience, and were more likely to give birth spontaneously and have a shorter labor.
Birth is a transformative experience you will remember all of your life. I find the physiology of birth to be miraculous and the experience sacred. My goal is to help make your baby's birth a positive experience by remaining an objective, informed, and supportive part of your team. I look forward to sharing in this exciting time with you as you welcome your newborn! Enjoy the journey!
